Helpful Hints For Your Next Caulking Project
With a nickname such as "toolbox in a tube," you can quickly see that caulk can be a homeowner's best friend - it's cheap, it's easy to apply and it has a multitude of uses.
But once you choose the appropriate product for your project, there are many tips and tricks that you should know to make your project look like a professional did it.
Silicone Caulking Tips
Silicone cannot be painted. If the project calls for paint, apply silicone after the paint has dried.
Removal of old silicone is very difficult. Microscopic amounts remaining on the surface will interfere with adhesion. Grinding of the surface may be needed to insure good adhesion.
If adhesion is a problem when replacing old silicone, try using new silicone but remember that 100% silicone may not stick to itself.
